2. Academic support system

Anuban Lampang school’s academic support system according to the following diagram

  1. Academic Administration
  2. Budget Management
  3. Human Resource Management
  4. General Administration

There are 3 main programs at Anuban  Lampang School:

  1. Mini English Program
  2. Gifted Math
  3. Smart Science

The first day when I met the class, I introduced myself to the class, the first impression was very good, the students were very good and polite. I really love the students my class practice. This is a picture of students in grades 5/1 and 5/2 that I practice teaching.

3. Teaching system

Anuban Lampang’s teaching system is very good, with two teachers teaching a class in two languages Thai taught by native speakers and English taught by foreign teachers about Maths and English, science, …

I think this is a very practical and useful program because it helps students ensure basic knowledge and helps students learn multiple languages at the same time, increasing confidence and ability to communicate in their english.

4. Materials and other learning sources

The sources of materials are very diverse with foreign teachers such as standard textbooks “Math in action workbook”, workbooks and online document sites such as Mathsisfun.com, Khan Academe, a dictionary, ect. I really like the materials that teachers use. I found it essential and able to flexibly apply them to teaching.

5. Measurement and evaluation system

The Anuban Lampang School measurement and evaluation system is similar at each grape. The main assessment is divided into 2 parts, the first part is the midterm semester and the end semester. Therefore, students will evaluate each semester with a large exam for each lesson.

However, this is not the only way to evaluate, some teachers also make positive reviews and add it to the final assessment in the score of the big exam.

6. Curiculum

The curriculum at Anuban Lampang is following the Thai curriculum, in addition they add some international curriculum, but still focus on the Thai curriculum. The feature of the Thai curriculum is that the Science curriculum is based on the Thai Curriculum, and the lesson they have is also in the Thai Curriculum.

However, the curriculum in English is still very interested. There are many English language programs and competitions for students to show their ability and practice their English.

7. Teaching plan

For the teaching plan at Anuban Lampang, it must be prepared in advance and sent to authorized teachers for review. Regarding the content of the teaching plan, it must cover all parts such as presentation, production and practice.

Below is an example of a one-week lesson plan.

  • Pedagogical Contents

1.Teaching methods of the teacher that you observed.

My mentor’s teaching method is to present core knowledge, organize group activities, organize games for students to practice the knowledge system in class and practice skills, solving problems. In addition, the teacher encourages students through give points for groups and compliments them in the class. Finally, give students an exercise system to practice at home.

2. Their learning materials and innovation

Learning materials used Mathsisfun.com, Math in action workbook, YouTube, Khan Academe, a dictionary, …

In my opinion, the innovations in the mentoring style of my mentor are ways of innovating teaching methods, innovating in form, using modern software with less time and high efficiency. Help students approach the problem in a better way. Specifically, for students to watch videos related to lessons, play games so that they help students access new content naturally.

3. Sources of learning and technology used by the teachers

The sources of learning used are “Math in action workbook” textbooks and workbooks. In addition, there are software such as Khan Academe, a dictionary, Mathisfun, … Moreover  STEM (Science, Technic, Engineering, and Math) models of learning.

Technology used by teachers like computer, TV, projector.

4. Authentic assessment used by the teachers

Assessment through paper tests and positive attitude of students. The final score is the combined result of both factors.

  • Teaching Plan

1. Curriculum

The math curriculum in English at Anuban Lampang school is based on the math curriculum in Thailand.

2.Teaching plan related to your major.

Foreign teachers will base on the mathematics program in Thailand which is divided into each topic in the teaching content that the teacher communicates to students through Mathisfun, Khan Academe, a dictionary.

Here is my two-week plan to teach math at Anuban Lampang.

  • Teaching Practice

The teaching process follows the lesson plan. Especially, make sure students master the lesson content and can apply knowledge to solve practical situations.

Manage the time and organize activities in accordance with the lesson content and ensure sufficient class time, and create a fun and comfortable atmosphere for students as they acquire new knowledge. Because for math students very difficult and boring. Therefore, in my opinion the organization of activities and games in teaching mathematics is very necessary. Through the group activities and math game can both help students acquire knowledge naturally and can train their ability to discuss and work in groups for students. So in my lesson, I always focus on organizing students in groups and organizing games for students to practice the knowledge they learn in a relaxed and stimulating atmosphere math skills of students.

In teaching, problems arising in the lesson are inevitable and it is necessary for the teacher to solve. My problem during this internship was the difference in language for the students, I did not know Thai and the students were not good at English. For me it is a great obstacle to communicate and to be close to my students. However, my students are very good students, so that obstacle can be solved by me. During class I try to speak slowly, use more pictures and mathematical symbols so that students can fully understand the knowledge I impart.

The management of the class in the beginning for me was still difficult because I did not fully understand my students. However, after that, I tried to understand my students more. At the same time, they have more feelings for me so I get the cooperation and respect so the classroom management is convenient. More convenient and easier for me. The time is not long, but I really love my students because they are really good students.

  • Summary and Suggestions

One of my goals in joining Sea-Teacher was to train my pedagogical skills and I was really pleased about that during my internship at Anuban Lampang. At this school, I have a mentor teacher , Marco. Marco’s teachers are very friendly and enthusiastic about me about my experience, lively maths teaching software, sincere suggestions, so I am accumulated for myself the necessary experience for myself. I believe that the experience and lessons from this internship will make my pedagogical and practical skills better and better.

The procedures of practicum at Anuban Lampang are as follows: First, my mentor will teach me a sample of two lessons and share my experience, the math teaching software to use in teaching. Then my mentor will give me the topic and knowledge that I need to impart to the student in the teaching plan so I can prepare my lesson plan and send it to him for testing before I start teaching in class.

Thanks to the preparation, the advice of each mentor and the accumulation of my own experience, I feel my teaching ability has improved and I am really happy for that. I am really grateful for the suggestions and suggestions that teachers give me. I promise myself that I will constantly strive and train myself to become more and more perfect.

The challenge of my reality is that I have not had much practical teaching experience and language disagreement with my students. However, I am young and I can overcome and gain experience to become better and because of the  goodwill ,affection between teachers and students so the language problem was not difficult to solve. Therefore, I can confirm that we are people from different countries even though we have different languages but with love, goodwill and effort we can understand each other, share with each other about  knowledge and our experiences.

What impressed me and liked the most here is the hospitality and friendliness of the Thai people. They always smile friendly to everyone.

I am completely satisfied with the experience I gained during this internship. If I have an idea, I only have one wish that I want to practice longer so I can gain more experience and more interesting experiences.

I am truly grateful to Seameo, LPRU and Anuban Lampang school for giving me the opportunity to join the Sea-teacher program. The program has helped me to interesting experiences and accumulated for myself the necessary skills to help my future and career.

I am really excited and proud when we have the opportunity to share our country, university and song with friends from Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand. At the same time, I really enjoyed watching them dance, and I found it very interesting to hear my friends from Indonesia and the Philippines sharing about their country and their university.

The video below is a summary of some of our key activities

Day 21: An unexpected experience

On September 11th, when we went to Anuban LamPang to complete the paperwork for the internship, here we received a surprising experience. We are taught by teachers at Anuban Lampang: Dr. Bangorn and Ms. Natcha Chokun took us on a tour around Lampang namely “Mae Moh Power Plant” and “The Thai Elephant Conservation Center, Lampang”.

We spent more than an hour to reach the first place is Mae Moh Power Plant . Here, we go around and enjoy the fresh air. This place is very large, comfortable and beautiful. There are many tourists come to take pictures and so do we. The pity here is that I didn’t come this season. Because according to Dr. Bangorn, there will be a flowering season and it will cover the surrounding scenery and turn into a beautiful golden color. I really enjoyed it and I wanted to have the opportunity to go back to Lampang to see the flower season, it would be great for me. However, the scenery here is really beautiful and gives visitors a sense of comfort and simplicity.

Next we have lunch and relax at a restaurant on the way to have enough energy to continue the visit at site “The Thai Elephant Conservation Center, Lampang”.

Location “The Thai Elephant Conservation Center, Lampang” is interesting to us, when we see the lovely, big and intelligent elephants. Here we see the pictures painted by the elephants and feeding the lovely elephants eat. Next we bought some souvenirs to keep the memories of the lovely elephants.

Our journey ended at a souvenir market. Goods here are varied and cheap. We have bought some souvenirs to take home. Dr. Bangorn and Ms. Natcha Chokun are really friendly and kind to us. I am truly grateful to them.

This is a short video of our journey.

Day 20: Continue the journey to discover Lampang

On September 8th, I was picked up by LPRU students to continue the journey to explore the cafes and temples in Lampang.

First we restaurant along the way to enjoy breakfast. Next, we went to Himwang Cafe to chat and drink coffee. The decoration of the cafe is very young and creative, creating a great setting for young people to take photos. We continue to explore a temple in Lampang, every time I go to a different temple I find it has its own special, each temple has its own unique design and style. I am really impressed with the architecture here. Every time I visit, it makes me want to explore more.

Day 19: Life is an exciting adventure

On September 7th, Ms. Autchariya and the students came to pick me up to visit the temple in Lampang. We spent almost two hours in the car reaching the temple. Here we get around to learn more about architecture. You take turns taking pictures to save the beautiful memories and feelings here.

Next we walked through the bamboo forest, learning more about the design of the temple. We follow the path of the steps, surrounded by dense trees and in the distance are Buddha statues in the forest. When we got out of the forest, we went to another part of the temple where the deity reigns, the snake goddess. Later, when we were several meters away, we left the temple.

Our next journey is to visit the coffee shop and relax there. It can be said that our common way of preserving memories is to take photos together at every place we go.

The end of your trip is at the market to buy food for the evening and some souvenirs.

The following is a video summarizing our all-day journey.

Day 17,18: Self-affirmation moments

On September 5th, in the morning, I continue to teach students to study and accumulate pedagogical skills for themselves. This morning the mentor teacher was sick so I managed the class alone. The students are very good and cooperate with me.
The beginning of my lesson is a playful dance song that helps students relax before acquiring new knowledge. Afterwards, I conveyed the knowledge to students through presentations, explanations, and organization of group activities and games so that the students could happily apply the knowledge and practice the knowledge they have learned.

When our class was dancing, Ms. Bangorn came in and joined us.
Pictures of good students passionately writing articles.

In the afternoon, I helped Miss Cynthia prepare and distribute lunch to students.

By the afternoon I carefully prepare lesson plans and plan classroom activities for students tomorrow. Because tomorrow my class has the honor of having my supervising teacher Ms. Pim come to observe the classroom. I am really excited because this is a good opportunity to assert myself and show all the experience accumulated during the internship here.

In the evening I and the students of Lampang Rajabhat University led to introduce more markets and went to the shopping center to buy some necessary souvenirs.

September 6th, the day I was excitedly waiting for has arrived. Today my supervising teacher will come to observe my class. I and my students feel very honored for that.

Today, I choose traditional Vietnamese clothes as “ao dai” to increase my confidence because for me today is a day not only special but also very important.

I and my students good morning together to start the day well.

The name of today’s lesson is the volume of a cuboid. After I greeted my supervising teacher with the students, I started my lesson with a fun dance “A ram sam sam” for the whole class to create a fun and interesting atmosphere for the students. At the same time for students to acquire new knowledge naturally.

The software I use to teach students lesson today is “mathisfun”. This software not only helps me provide students with lively knowledge but also provides a complete system of exercises for students to practice. My main activities in this lesson are the first time interacting and imparting new knowledge to students. Specifically, introduce and ask students to look for cuboids models in the classroom so they can see the relationship between math and practice.

Next I let them practice through group activities to give them the concept of cooperating and helping each other to complete the task. Finally, I organized a math game to help them not be bored but could consolidate their knowledge again.

At the end of the lesson, I was satisfied with the lesson this time because I had thoughtfully prepared it and I tried to do everything I could.

Some photos celebrating the end of the lesson includes me, my supervising teacher and my students.

Next I heard the comments and suggestions of the supervising teacher about this session. For me, this is a time when I am very interested because it helps me to see my shortcomings and limitations so that I can improve better. I was really pleased and happy to hear the supervising teacher liked his lesson.

After the class ended, I completed my internship at Anuban Lampang. The time is not long, but for me, the affection for students for this place really is not little. I love all the students, I love every good memory here. I am grateful for every heartfelt teaching and advice from my teachers.

These are gifts, sentiments of students for me. I really appreciate it.

Day 16: A day full of new experiences with my mentor and my students

On September 4th, I and my mentor took Anuban Lampang school’s students on a picnic so students could get a hands-on experience.

Principal’s advice before starting the experience!
Let’s go!
Our destination!
Our photos at the destination.

We were introduced to the experience of the experience by the instructor before we started .

Chicken is the symbol of Lampang

Next we went around and started trying new things.

Our first activity…

My product!!! I like it…

Through this activity shows me the difficulties and hardships of the workers, they have to be very meticulous to make a complete product. This activity helps me love and appreciate their products.

Next activity!

This activity helps us increase our creativity.

Next we pour the ready-made patterns. The most difficult thing about this operation is having to determine the right time to take it out. Cannot get early and cannot get late. It requires both accuracy and experience.

Our final activity is to combine small objects to form a wind chime.

Today’s experience is very interesting for me, it helps me gain new knowledge, know how to make handicrafts. Especially seeing the hard work of the craftsman, I love and appreciate the products they make.

Day 14: Wonderful!

September 2th, My first day of the week was wonderful with fun and interesting lessons in both 5/1 and 5/2 classes. We start the lesson by jumping on the dance machine before we start the new lesson.

Through this method, I find that students are happier and they can absorb lessons faster. I think this is a good way of teaching and can be applied for a long time to help students relax and help me have a closer relationship with my students. It makes me love my students more.

At noon, I helped Miss Cynthia distribute the food to the students.

In the afternoon, we had a meeting with Ms. Nui Zaa, a teacher from LPRU University, and we had a good conversation with each other at the cafe.

Our Photos at the cafe

In the evening our Sea-Teacher group went out to eat together.

Day 13: Enjoy it with me

On August 31th, my Sea-teacher team with LPRU students went to visit the temples in Lampang, go to coffee, buy souvenirs and stroll the shopping center.

Our first job is to recharge to start a good day.

Next we went to the coffee shop to rest and talk together.

Choose a souvenir with me. There are many souvenirs made from ceramic designs are very delicate and diverseChoose a souvenir with me.

Next we go to the mall.

In the evening my group was invited to dinner at Pem’s house. The main chef who prepares dishes for us is her mother. The food was delicious and we were very welcoming and hospitable by her family. The food is very delicious to me. I am really happy and very grateful to her family.
